2. Fishing- One of the most popular water sports in Africa is fishing, and there’s no shortage of fishing spots on the continent. If you’re a fan of fly-fishing, then make sure you head over to Dullstroom, which is considered to be Africa’s fly-fishing capital. If you want to catch tiger fish, then check out Lake Kariba, but consider renting a houseboat so you can go down the lake and take in the surrounding views. 3. Diving- As you know, there’s no shortage of beaches in Africa, and before you lay around sunbathing or going for a swim, you should go on a diving excursion. Diving is extremely popular in Africa and it’s one of the biggest water sports on the continent. If you enjoy sea life and you want to get up close with underwater life, then you’ll definitely want to give diving on Africa a try. 4. Kayaking- Kayaking is a great way to see a lot of what Africa has to offer because when you kayak down a river or lake, you’ll be able to spot wildlife, view gorgeous plants and much more. 5. Surfing- Perhaps the biggest water sport of all in Africa is surfing, but make sure you check out the waves in Morocco. There are certain areas where waves start off as little as 3-4 feet high, but can go all the way up to 15 feet high or higher, so if you love surfing, then there’s no better place to do it at than Africa. Before you go to Africa, you should research the best places to surf at because there’s so many beaches and surf spots to choose from. 6. Stand Up Paddling (SUP)
Stand Up Paddling is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world. Originating from the kings of Hawaii, surfing and stand up paddling was a sport for royals on the islands of the pacific. SUPing has recently been modernized with a number of surf, windsurfing and kitesurfing companies creating modern day stand up paddle boards made from foam, fibre glass and wood as well as fibre glass and carbon paddles.
SUPing is a fantastic way to get fit and have fun in the water. Anyone can do it and there are a number of disciplines, from social cruising to racing to freestyle surfing. Each discipline requires a specially designed board.
